Saturday November 2 Blues Harmonica Highlights

8.30pm Marko Jovanovic & Stef Rosen

Appearing in the traditional duo line-up of acoustic guitar and harmonica, Marko Jovanovic and Stef Rosen draw on elements of blues and soul to create a personal and sensitive tribute to the legendary artists who inspired their music. The two virtuoso musicians harmonize perfectly and immerse themselves completely in their emotionally intense renditions of originals and classic songs. Together they give a powerful performance which will captivate the Harmonica Masters audience.

9.15pm Joe Filisko

Joe Filisko needs no introduction in Trossingen. His mastery of traditional blues harmonica styles is second to none and his playing and teaching have inspired countless other players all over the world, from beginners to seasoned professionals. In recent years he has also matured impressively as a singer and songwriter. Tonight Joe will open his show solo before being joined by the LiveWires.

10.15pm Eddie Martin, Closing Session

Multi-instrumentalist and consumate entertainer Eddie Martin has been called Britain’s Ambassador of the Blues. As well as a virtuoso guitarist, harmonica player and singer, he is a highly regarded songwriter with no less than 17 original albums to his name who has won a string of national and international awards. Reflecting his workshop on rack harmonica, Eddie will start off alone on guitar and harp before inviting the LiveWires up to join him.

Following Eddies’s show, all instructors will take to the stage with the band to finish the Harmonica Masters Workshops 2024 in style with the ever popular closing session.

The LiveWires are Steve Baker’s regular working band and have provided session and concert accompaniment at the Harmonica Masters Workshops since 2019.

Master bass playerJeff Walker has worked with numerous British and American blues artists including Dana Gillespie, Billy Branch and Magic Dick. He relocated to Germany in 2017 and has has played with Steve Baker ever since. Jeff is also a regular performer at the Mustique Blues Festival, where he has appeared with artists including Joe Louis Walker as well as jamming with Mick Jagger and Ron Wood from the Rolling Stones.

Robert Carl Blank is a versatile and experienced guitarist and also a highly regarded singer/songwriter, who has released numerous solo albums under his own name. His association with Steve Baker began during the covid pandemic and he has been performing with the new acoustic line-up of the LiveWires ever since. He made his debut at the Harmonica Masters Workshops in 2023. 

Yogi Jockusch spent 15 years as the no. 1 percussionist on the Hamburg musical circuit. He was a permanent member of the ensemble for countless Andrew Lloyd-Webber musicals including Tarzan, The Lion KIng, Mamma Mia and many more, as well as being a highly sought after studio and touring musician who is equally at home in styles ranging from blues and pop to jazz and world music.

The LiveWires are exceptionally versatile and supportive backing musicians. They love the Trossingen events and look forward to accompanying all comers at the on-stage sessions and concerts during the Harmonica Masters Workshops 2024.
